About

Known for her warm approach, and intelligently designed interiors, Caroline Riddell has been recognised by House and Garden magazine as one of the 100 leading UK interior designers for many years.

Her relationship with the client is the key element of Caroline’s philosophy. Caroline and her team enjoy working closely with the client to “create a space that is charming and relaxed, elegant but not too precious. It is of the utmost importance to design a home around the client’s wishes, and we feel this is reflected in the individuality of each of our projects”.

Caroline studied fine art at City and Guilds before setting up her burgeoning interior design business in 1999. She has designed homes ranging from Country Manor houses, Grade II listed townhouses, architect-designed city apartments, and ski chalets to a mews house, a converted priest house, a Suffolk long house and a castle in Tuscany to name but a few.

“My philosophy is to remain sympathetic to the period of the house whilst interpreting my clients’ vision. By guiding them through the design process, I am able to create homes that are warm, comfortable and familiar”

Current projects are in London, Suffolk, Surrey and Hampshire.

Our Ethos

With over 20 years of experience, Caroline has an open an honest approach to design. Her clients will always receive a personal service. However, she very much sees her design as a collaboration between herself, her client and her team.

Caroline takes time to fully understand and listen to her client’s requirements helping them to create a home rather than produce a definitive style.

A Note About Sustainability

We are always keen to suggest that we see all the clients existing furniture and wherever possible will aim to re-use and re-purpose furniture that already exists. By mixing old and new we can create a personalised interior whilst breathing new life into otherwise old and forgotten pieces. It is often also explained to our clients that when investing in high quality furniture, the need to replace is reduced.

Caroline fully understands that when buying new furniture for her clients homes it is vital to consider only pieces that will not only work for their current lifestyle, but will also be used long into the future.

Caroline Riddell is one of those designers who flies under the radar, in that while working on her many projects, all of them different, she wants to make a home rather than an interior design project.

Art Consultancy

We offer an art consultation service for our clients, which includes sourcing pieces that we know suit their own personal style as well as complementing the interiors we have designed for them. We have long established relationships with galleries and parties as well as auction houses. Occasionally it means advice on re-framing treasured family portraits.
